Program Note

Dreams of Lavender Days has gone through quite a journey. Originally it was written for vocalist and piano as part of my song cycle Sea Garden. I had learned that the text for that song was still in copyright, while every other one was in the public domain and I wasn't in a position to license the poem at the time. This composition was sidelined until I found a new use for it. I recently realized that, with some minor changes, it would fit well as a guitar duo and decided to rearrange the work to fit that new ensemble type. The name is a reference to a group of friends of mine who have always been large supporters of my work and career as both a musician and composer. This piece is dedicated to the Days and the Lavender Brews that we have all shared together.
